I don't think it's crazy at all! I've also always wanted to wear these for just one day, to see what it's like ^_^ but maybe not gel nails, just cool, unique nail art using regular nail polish and decals (kinda like nail stickers,they're really easy to find, but hard to find good quality ones...)
